Because this monitor does not accept seperate sync, it requires at least our sync converter to display any picture on a PC or Mac with a standard video card. Because this monitor is not VGA frequency compatible, you can't just plug it in to a normal video
card (even with our sync converter) and expect it to work normally on a PC or Mac. On a PC for example, even with our sync converter, you could not see DOS boot screens, windows safe mode,
or certain games using a normal video card. With our video cards (which come with a sync converter), this monitor will display a picture at all
resolutions up to the monitors maximum resolution. .
We explain your options for video cards and cables below.

| Since this monitor does not accept seperate sync, you will need to get our sync converter.
This adapter converts the seperate sync output signal from your video card to the proper
sync type for this monitor. Note that this adapter is not required for our video cards. |
Get the appropriate cable or adapter here.
With your video card , this monitor will work at certain resolutions and refresh rates.
You must be able to configure your card to output the correct resolution and refresh rate. With your video card configured properly,
the monitor still has the following limitations:
- Boot Screens will not be visible.
- CMOS Screens will not be visible.
- Dos Text Modes will not be visible.
- Games that only run in Dos text mode will not be visible.
- Windows games that require nonsupported resolutions will not be visible.
- Windows Safe Mode will not be visible.
- Windows resolutions other than those supported will not be visible.
The SONY GDM-1630SG monitor
will not operate like a normal VGA monitor with your video card.
You must set your video card to output the correct resolution and frequencies.
Even if you can configure your card properly the monitor will only display in windows at certain resolutions,
.
Our video cards are designed to make this monitor work normally on a PC.
